Virginia Tech CB Kendall Fuller headed to NFL

Virginia Tech cornerback Kendall Fuller is headed to the NFL.

The program confirmed Tuesday that Fuller has signed with an agent and informed head coach Frank Beamer of his intentions to enter the 2016 draft.

Kendall, who will forgo his senior season, was the fourth Fuller brother to player under Beamer at Virginia Tech.

“Virginia Tech is better because the Fuller brothers were Hokies,” Beamer said in a statement. “Vinny, Corey, Kyle and Kendall were all different but they were all the same in that they were smart, competitive, very athletic and great teammates who possessed great character. Those qualities are a tribute to their parents. The Fullers are what college football players should be. It is an honor for me that each of them followed their brother to Virginia Tech. It was my privilege to coach all four of them.”

Fuller missed most of this season due to a torn meniscus in his right knee. He underwent surgery in September after playing through the injury in the Hokies’ first three games.

Fuller’s mother told The Roanoke Times that her son signed with an agent and is already rehabbing his injury down in Pensacola, Florida, at EXOS Football, a training facility that helps prospects prepare for the NFL combine.

Fuller finished his career with 119 tackles, eight tackles for loss, eight interceptions and 35 passes defended.

The oldest Fuller brother, Vinny, played safety in the NFL from 2005 to 2011. The other two Fuller brothers, Corey and Kyle, are still playing professionally – Corey as a receiver with the Detroit Lions and Kyle as a cornerback for the Chicago Bears.

Virginia Tech went 6-6 season and will finish off the Beamer era in the Independence Bowl against Tulsa on Dec. 26.
