Two weeks after rapper Paul Wall fitted Houston head coach Tom Herman for a custom diamond grill, we’ve reached the moment of truth.
The grill is with Herman and the Cougars for the Peach Bowl in Atlanta, and it is immaculate. Simply amazing.
Before the season began, Herman told his team that he’d get a grill if the Cougars won the American Athletic Conference title. That goal came to fruition with a win over Temple on Dec. 5, so Herman held up his end of the deal.
With the help of a group of players known as the “grill committee,” a design was formulated. The finished product has the classic “UH” Houston logo.
Wall, a Grammy-nominated rapper from Houston and former UH student, fitted Herman for the grill at Houston’s football facility on Dec. 15. Jeweler Johnny Dang, a partner of Wall’s, told reporters that the grill is worth “a little less than $15,000.”
Lookin’ good, coach.
It remains to be seen if Herman will wear the grill when the Cougars take on Florida State on Thursday.
