LSU tight end Dillon Gordon is in stable condition after being stabbed multiple times during an incident at a Baton Rouge bar in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Police responded to a fight at the bar and one person was transported to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center.

While police did not name the victim, the Baton Rouge Advocate cited sources who identified Gordon, 22, and said he suffered three stab wounds to the chest and other wounds to the leg and abdomen.

The wounds were not considered life threatening.

“Calling it a stab wound might be an exaggeration,” Baton Rouge police spokesman Lt. Don Kelly told the paper. “From what I understand, it’s not a serious injury at all. Working to try to figure out who did it. The person who did it left the scene.”

However, a release from the police department later said it was a “major incident” and that the victim suffered “multiple stabbings.”

Gordon, a three year starter, took to Twiiter to say he was OK.

LSU coach Les Miles released a statement Tuesday morning acknowledging the incident and stating that Gordon was OK.

“I am aware that Dillon Gordon was involved in an incident last night that required him to receive medical attention,” Miles said in the statement. “Fortunately, the injuries Dillon sustained were not life-threatening and from all indications, he will make a full recovery. We are thankful that Dillon is okay.”

Gordon, who started every game last season, started three games in 2015 before rupturing his Achilles against Florida on Oct. 17, which needed surgery to repair. LSU has applied for a medical redshirt to give Gordon a fifth year of eligibility.
