Ohio State wide receiver Michael Thomas is going to the NFL. He revealed his decision via Twitter on Tuesday afternoon.
Thomas had two-straight seasons with over 50 catches and 700 yards. He had 56 receptions for 781 yards and nine touchdowns in 2015 after having 54 catches for 799 yards and nine scores in 2014. He was the Buckeyes' leading receiver in 2015 and scored a touchdown in the team's Fiesta Bowl win over Notre Dame.
He's the eighth Buckeye to announce 2016 draft intentions. Thomas joins RB Ezekiel Elliott, QB Cardale Jones, LB Darron Lee, DE Joey Bosa, CB Eli Apple, WR Jalin Marshall and S Tyvis Powell in going to the draft.
Mississippi State defensive tackle Chris Jones also said he was leaving for the NFL. He had 44 tackles and 2.5 sacks in 2015.
“After discussing it with my family, I will forego my senior season at Mississippi State and enter the 2016 NFL Draft,” Jones said in a statement through MSU. “The past three years in Starkville have been unforgettable, and I am proud to be a part of the legacy that we created. I want to thank my teammates and coaches, especially head coach Dan Mullen and defensive line coach David Turner, for giving me the opportunity to wear the maroon and white. As I pursue a dream of playing in the NFL, I will always be a Bulldog.”
Jones was one of Mullen's first big recruits at Mississippi State. The Houston native was a five-star recruit in the class of 2013 and the No. 2 strongside defensive end in the country according to Rivals. The top strongside defensive end in 2013 was Robert Nkemdiche, who committed to Ole Miss. Nkemdiche is also going pro.
