Ohio State and Nike have extended their partnership for another 15 years in a $252 million deal, the most valuable in college sports.
According to the Wall Street Journal, part of the deal breakdown includes $112 million in product and $103 million in cash.
Prior to Ohio State striking this deal, Texas’ $250 million deal with Nike in November was the richest deal. Michigan’s $169 million deal with Nike in July also was the richest at the time.
"We were deserving in this deal to be No. 1 in the country," athletic director Gene Smith told the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "There are a number of criteria in that partnership where we demonstrated that we performed extremely well, and so we feel that's where we should be."
