Former Alabama wide receiver Chris Black is staying in the SEC for his final season of college football.
Black announced Monday that he is headed to Missouri. Black graduated from Alabama, so he will be eligible to play immediately for the Tigers next season. He told Al.com that he also considered Arizona State and Maryland before choosing Mizzou.
Black never quite lived up to expectations at Alabama. He caught 25 passes for 290 yards and two touchdowns in 25 games combined over the past three seasons.
He was expected to have a large role in the offense in 2015, but struggled to see the field due to an ankle injury. He had surgery on the ankle in November and missed the Tide’s run to the national championship. Black finished the 2015 season with just two catches for 23 yards.
Black was a four-star recruit and rated as the No. 58 overall prospect in the 2012 class by Rivals.com.
