Ole Miss defensive tackle Breeland Speaks was arrested early Friday morning for suspicion of DUI.
Speaks had 32 tackles in 2015. He posted bail just after 7 a.m. Friday morning and his DUI arrest is listed as a first offense according to the Jackson Clarion-Ledger.
“Breeland’s poor choice does not meet the expectations of our program, and there will be consequences,” Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze said in a statement. “He and I have spoken, and he is very disappointed in himself and will accept whatever punishment that is handed down.
“We are very thankful he is safe and that this was not a life-altering decision. In these situations, we hope our young men learn from their mistakes and do not let the mistake define them.”
Speaks is in line to receive a bunch of playing time in 2016 as Ole Miss is needing to replace potential first-round pick Robert Nkemdiche.
Speaks was the No. 12 strongside defensive end in the country in 2014 and a four-star recruit according to Rivals.
