Pitt running back James Conner unofficially opened the season for the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday.
Conner, who has returned to practice this spring after he was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma in December, threw out the ceremonial first pitch for the Pirates in their home opener against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Conner had 1,745 yards rushing in 2014. He entered as one of the best running backs in college football last season but suffered a season-ending knee injury in the Panthers' first game of the season. He had some fun with his experience after the pitch too.
