Mississippi State receiver Fred Brown has been dismissed from the team for violating the student honor code, the school announced Thursday.
The school did not elaborate on the specific violation.

Brown had missed last week’s team scrimmage for what coach Dan Mullen called a family matter.
Brown’s dismissal means the Bulldogs are without their top four receivers from a year ago — De'Runnya Wilson left for the NFL, Fred Ross has a groin injury and Donald Gray has a knee injury.
Brown finished third on the team last season with 27 receptions for 412 yards and three touchdowns.
If there’s a positive to this, the team’s younger receivers are getting the bulk of the reps this fall, which will be invaluable for next season.
