Clemson will have wide receiver Deon Cain available this fall.

Coach Dabo Swinney told ESPN Tuesday that Cain, who was suspended for Clemson's final two games of the season as well as spring practice, has been reinstated to the team.

Clemson said at the time of his suspension that Cain had been suspended for a violation of team rules. He reportedly failed a drug test.

"He's served his time," Swinney said. "Sat him for two games -- big ones. I just felt like I needed to get his attention. ... I felt like I needed to draw a line in the sand to get this kid to see the big picture and understand the consequences of his action. And to his credit, he could've left. But I laid out what was going to happen this spring, and he chose to stay. That says a lot about Deon."

The two "big ones" were, of course, Clemson's Orange Bowl win against Oklahoma and its loss against Alabama in the College Football Playoff National Championship.

Cain, a five-star recruit in the class of 2015, was a valued target for Tigers QB Deshaun Watson before his suspension. He had 34 catches for 582 yards and five touchdowns on the season and had three games where he talled over 90 receiving yards.

As the team's second-leading returning receiver, Cain will likely team with Artavis Scott as Clemson's starting wide receivers to begin the 2016 season. Scott had 93 catches for 901 yards and six touchdowns in 2015. Senior tight end Jordan Leggett also chose to return for his final year of eligibility and had 40 catches for 525 yards and eight scores last season.

The Tigers open the 2016 season at Auburn on Sept. 3.
