Spencer Benton isn't Clemson's starting kicker, but after Saturday's game against Ball State, he's now in the ACC record book.
With eight seconds remaining in the first half, Clemson coach Dabo Swinney trotted Benton out to attempt a 61-yard field goal. Even though Chandler Catanzaro is the starting kicker, Benton, who's not always accurate, has the stronger leg and got the shot at history.
And he didn't flinch.
The ball went through the uprights and Benton celebrated like he'd just won the game (even though it made the score 45-10).

The kick broke the previous mark held by Florida State kicker Gary Cismesia, who nailed a 60-yarder in 2007. Obed Ariri and Chris Gardocki held the previous Clemson record of 57 yards and it was the first Clemson kick of more than 50 yards since 2009.
"I don't know how far it cleared by," Swinney said of the kick, "but it looked like it had more room to go."
