A police report obtained by The Oklahoman provides context to the incident that led to the arrest of Oklahoma wide receiver Dede Westbrook.

Westbrook’s May 23 arrest in his hometown of Cameron, Texas, stemmed from his presence at a home where a previous altercation took place. Police said Westbrook’s truck was blocked in by a woman who directed racial slurs at him. Westbrook, who was cooperative with police, was at the home to see the woman’s daughter.

From The Oklahoman:

According to the report, police were called to a house in Cameron, Texas, with the caller stating that there was a male in her house who was not supposed to be there. When officers arrived, they found a car belonging to Brenda Vega blocking the driveway so that Westbrook’s truck could not leave. The driveway was described as being in a “narrow opening” in the fence.

Vega told officers that Westbrook “needed to go to jail,” and that his truck needed to be towed because she was not going to allow him to leave. According to the report, Vega said Westbrook knew he was not allowed on the property due to an altercation that happened about a year before.

Westbrook told police he was at the house to see Vega’s daughter and gave police information to run a check, which came back clear. When an officer informed Vega that Westbrook’s truck would not be towed, she became more aggravated and said she did “not do black people” and used the n-word in stating that she did not want Westbrook on her property.

Westbrook admitted to officers he had previously been asked not to return to the property. Thusly, he was charged with criminal trespass, a misdemeanor.

From The Oklahoman:

Westbrook voluntarily followed the patrol car to the Milam County Sheriff’s Office where he told officers he was aware he’d been asked not to return to the property after an altercation about a year before.

Westbrook was charged with criminal trespass, a Class B misdemeanor. He was booked into the Milam County jail at 11:30 a.m. and was released at 2:15 p.m. the same day.

Westbrook caught 46 passes for 743 yards and four touchdowns in 2015 after transferring to OU from Blinn College. He is the Sooners’ leading returning receiver heading into the 2016 campaign.
