Jalen Tabor has a new first name. At least for football purposes.
The Florida cornerback is now listed as Teez Tabor on the Florida roster. Tabor said Teez is the name many friends have called him over the years.
“If you call me Teez, you know me,” he told Florida’s site. “If you call me Jalen, you just know of me.”
The team site even notes he has “Teez” tattooed on his arm. If you’re wondering about the origin of the nickname, the team site has you covered there too.
Tabor credits his younger brother Roger as the primary reason those who know him best call him Teez. In seventh grade Tabor and three other friends created a MySpace page for their group named the “Eezy Boyz.” Eventually, MySpace wasn’t so popular with his middle-school friends and they deleted the page.
However, Roger continued to call Jalen by the nickname, first Teezy and finally Teez. Roger used it mostly to tease Jalen in games of Madden or one-on-one hoops.
MySpace! What flashbacks.
Tabor has emerged as one of the best cornerbacks in the country. He played in 13 of Florida’s 14 games in 2015 and was a first team All-SEC selection with 40 tackles and four interceptions. He returned two of those picks for touchdowns.

Tabor was suspended, along with now-transferred quarterback Treon Harris, for the Gators’ game against Tennessee for reportedly missing a drug test.
