Grambling director of sports medicine Vernita Young celebrated a birthday Saturday, so the Tigers football team came up with a creative way to acknowledge her special day.

During practice, senior linebacker Byron Williams went down with what appeared to be a leg injury. Young came over to check on Williams with his teammates close behind, but Williams quickly rose to his feet with a smile on his face as the entire team sang “Happy Birthday” to Young, who the players call “Ms. V.”

How cool is that?

According to Grambling’s athletics website, Young is entering her third year at Grambling. Before her time at Grambling, she was the head athletic trainer at Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and also worked at Mid-State Sports Medicine and for the Nashville Storm, a semi-pro football team.
