For a second straight year, Indiana wide receiver J’Shun Harris will miss the season because of a torn ACL.

Hoosiers head coach Kevin Wilson announced the news when meeting with reporters Monday morning, saying Harris tore the ACL opposite of the knee he injured last summer. It’s a tough blow for IU’s receiving corps as the speedy Harris was expected to make an impact in the slot and as a returner.

“He’s been unbelievably good,” Wilson said, per TheHoosier.com. “It’s harder for the medical guys and as coaches, because he’s a great kid and he’s worked hard.”

WIlson said Harris, a redshirt sophomore, injured the knee during a scrimmage on Saturday. He’ll undergo surgery this week.

The 5-foot-8, 170-pound Harris had 18 catches for 168 yards and two touchdowns in 2014. He also averaged 20.6 yards per kickoff return.

Despite the loss of Harris, IU returns its top three receivers from 2015, including Mitchell Paige, the team’s main slot receiver. Paige was second on the team in receptions, 57, for 684 yards. He led the team with six touchdown catches. Simmie Cobbs (60 catches for 1,035 yards and 4 TDs) and Ricky Jones (54 catches for 904 yards and 5 TDs) are also back in the fold.

Coming off a 6-7 record in 2015, IU opens up its 2016 season at Florida International on Sept. 1.
