Meant to do this one last week, but it got lost in the shuffle…
Maryland coach Randy Edsall might not be all that great at winning football games, but man, can he brew up some tea.
On the balcony of Edsall's office at the Gossett Team House is a jug of tea sunning. According to the Washington Post, the tea is decaffeinated, unsweetened with lemon. Edsall puts 10 tea bags in the jug and goes through a jug a week, since this is all he drinks (unlike all you coffee drinkers).
I suppose if you didn't know what this was and you happened to be walking by Edsall's office, you'd have all sorts of ideas racing through your head. After all, it is a brownish-yellowish liquid being stored in a jar, which is something pilot and producer Howard Hughes used to do — only is wasn't tea.
But, as far as we can tell, Edsall is of sound mind, and so far is winning as well as he's brewing. Despite last week's 24-21 loss to UConn, the Terps are 2-1 this season.
