No. 15 Houston pulled off an upset of No. 3 Oklahoma on Saturday, and a special teams play was the catalyst behind the opening weekend stunner.

Just after the start of the second half, returner Brandon Wilson was standing underneath the goal post during a 53-yard field goal by Oklahoma’s Austin Seibert. The kick fell short and into the hands of Wilson, who proceeded to run the kick back about 109 ¾ yards to his end zone.

Wilson nearly stepped out of the back of the end zone, but somehow kept his footing and caught Oklahoma off-guard with his return.

At the time, the score gave Houston a 26-17 lead and all of the momentum. Oklahoma fumbled on its next possession and Houston ultimately turned it into another touchdown toward the end of the third quarter. The Cougars then held off a late rally to win 33-23.
