The Battle at Bristol is going to set a college football attendance record Saturday night. Some of the approximately 160,000 in attendance will probably need some binoculars to see the game, however.

Via the Knoxville News Sentinel, here’s a view from a seat it dubbed potentially the worst at the facility for the game between Tennessee and Virginia Tech.

Yeah, that’s a pretty bad view. But Bristol is a half-mile track that hosts NASCAR races. It’s not set up to host a football game as you can tell from the space between the field and the grandstands, especially in the turns. And while that picture may be for a bad seat for a football game, it’s a pretty good seat for a race. You can see the entire track.

We were at Bristol in August for the Sprint Cup Series race and here’s what it looked like from approximately 55 rows up in turn 2 to watch a race.

As we explored the entire concourse before the race we had a chance to take in the scene from the sideline seats and the sightlines there would be really good for a game.

And besides, part of the reason for attending the Battle at Bristol is to be part of the giant party. A party that’s going to last long after the football game. According to city officials, it will take four hours for people to depart the game. Many of the lots closest to the track are held for an hour on race weekends and fans will park miles from the track and walk.

Alcohol sales may be an interesting experience at the game too. It’s typically sold at NASCAR races, but fans can also bring in their own coolers full of beer. There aren’t any coolers allowed inside the track for the game, meaning fans will have to purchase all of their in-game beverages.
