Clemson had a tough time scoring in the first half against Troy and plays like this didn’t help.
Clemson punt returner Ray-Ray McCloud made a couple beautiful cuts and even lost his shoe on the way to what should have been a 74-yard punt return touchdown.
However, as McCloud started to cross the goal line, he dropped the ball around the 1/2 –yard line.
The ball rolled into the end zone and Troy recovered for a touchback.
The touchdown would have made the score 19-10 with the extra point pending. Instead, the touchdown was wiped off the board. Troy missed a 48-yard field goal as the half expired.
“We’ve got a couple young guys that have got to grow up,” coach Dabo Swinney said at halftime.
Clemson leads Troy 13-10 with a half to go.
