Baylor offensive coordinator Kendal Briles allegedly had impermissible contact with a recruit.
According to ESPN, Briles met with the NCAA in Indianapolis on Wednesday about the violations. The report said Baylor is attempting to reduce the severity of the violations — to potentially reduce any punishment from the violations.
The report did not detail what Briles did to commit the violation and it has nothing to do with the sexual assault scandal at Baylor.
Briles was suspended for the opening game of the 2015 season by the school because of a recruiting violation. The suspension was “related to evaluations of prospective student-athletes during the spring 2015 recruiting period” according to Baylor.
Briles has been outspoken in his support for his father, fired Baylor coach Art Briles. His dad was fired by the school in May after a Pepper Hamilton independent investigation into the school’s handling of sexual assault accusations. While Art Briles and two football staffers were fired in the spring, the rest of the football coaching staff stayed intact.

Kendal Briles made a public show of support for his dad during the team’s first game of the season in 2016 by writing “CAB” on his hands (seen in the picture above) and released a statement of support a week ago for his father along with the rest of Baylor’s coaching staff.
Given that Baylor will likely have a new coach in 2017 and Art Briles could have a coaching gig somewhere else, the odds are very slim that Kendal Briles will be a part of the team’s coaching staff next season.
