Big 12 moves Bedlam from final week of season in 2017 football schedule

Oklahoma and Oklahoma State won’t end the season vs. each other in 2017.

The two teams will play each other Nov. 4, four weeks ahead of the reincarnated Big 12 Championship Game. The conference is bringing back the title game in 2017 after a six-year hiatus because of a now-defunct rule preventing conferences with less than 12 teams from having title games.

It’s the earliest Oklahoma and Oklahoma State have played each other since 2004, when No. 2 OU beat No. 20 OSU 38-35 on Oct. 30.

The 2016 game served as the de-facto Big 12 championship in 2016 as the winner won the conference. If the title game was in place for 2016, the two teams would have played each other the following week no matter the outcome for the official title.

Here’s how the rest of the Big 12 conference schedule looks for the 2017 season. While Oklahoma State ends the season vs. Kansas, Oklahoma plays West Virginia in a game that could easily be played as a rematch a week later.

None of the matchups that ended the 2016 regular season will end the 2017 season.
