Florida quarterback signee Jake Allen can recall a memorable, if not a bit awkward, moment with Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh.

Allen, in an interview with SEC Country, was asked the funniest thing that happened during the recruiting process. He responded with a memory of Harbaugh from his time at a Michigan camp.

“I was at a Michigan camp and talking with a couple other quarterbacks. We were all talking about our grades. I was messing around and said, ‘I got a C in third grade.’ Jim Harbaugh overheard and screams, ‘I don’t give a s–t about your grades.’ Then he realized I was part of the quarterback group that had recruits in it so he just kind of walked away. It was weird. I couldn’t wait to get out of there after that, and we left early.”

To be clear, we don’t actually think Harbaugh doesn’t care about grades. It seems from Allen’s telling of the story that Harbaugh was trying to be funny and it backfired a bit.

Allen was a three-star pro-style quarterback in the class of 2017 and the No. 16 pro-style QB in the country. He verbally committed to the Gators 18 months before signing in February, so even if his time with Harbaugh went better and he got an offer from the Wolverines (per Rivals, he did not), we’re guessing it would have taken a lot more to break his Florida commitment.
