Mississippi State will be without its 2016 interceptions leader in 2017.
Bulldogs coach Dan Mullen confirmed to The Clarion-Ledger Thursday that defensive back Jamoral Graham is not currently a member of the team. Graham tallied 28 total tackles and a team-leading three interceptions in 2016. One of his interceptions was returned 37 yards for a touchdown against UMass.
In 2015, Graham moved over to defense from wide receiver and tallied 21 tackles on the season. As a freshman, Graham had five catches for 78 yards and a score as a wideout and also saw significant action as a punt returner.
Graham announced his departure in an Instagram post, but did not offer details. The Clarion-Ledger reported the move was Graham’s choice and “not a disciplinary action.”
Mississippi State, coming off a 6-7 record in 2016, will play its spring game on Saturday.
