The ACC football championship game is in Charlotte, North Carolina, to stay for the foreseeable future.
The league announced on Wednesday that Bank of American Stadium will host the 2017 game on Dec. 2, and it will be played there every year through 2020.

The city was initially signed on to host the ACC title game through 2019, but the league restructured its multi-year championship deals with North Carolina venues an extra year to compensate for pulling events from the state in the 2016-17 season due to House Bill 2.
“We are pleased that ACC neutral site championships will return to the state of North Carolina beginning with the 2017-18 academic year,” ACC commissioner John Swofford said in a release. “We value all of our partners in North Carolina and appreciate their support and cooperation. We are thrilled to renew our relationships with so many terrific people, outstanding cities and first-class venues.”
The announcement comes one day after the NCAA announced its future schedule of championship events, which will include North Carolina as a host site.
The ACC council of presidents voted last month to consider North Carolina as a host site again after the state repealed HB2, a law that limited protections for LGBT people.
This past year’s ACC football title game had been moved from Charlotte to Orlando, Florida. The ACC women’s basketball tournament was moved from Greensboro to Conway, South Carolina.
The men’s basketball tournament will remain, as previously scheduled, in Charlotte’s Spectrum Center in 2019 and in the Greensboro Coliseum in 2020. (It is in Brooklyn, New York, in 2018.)
