Would you like to see the seventh-longest punt in FBS history?

Sure you do.

(via ESPN)

That 92-yard monster came off the right leg of Marshall senior Kaare Vedvik Saturday against Old Dominion. Vedvik, a native of Norway, kicked that ball from about three yards deep in his own end zone and it landed all the way at the other 30-yard line.

And if 70-plus yards in the air wasn’t enough, the ball bounced all the way into the end zone, meaning the ball traveled around 100 yards in all. Because the line of scrimmage was the eight-yard line, it goes in the books as a 92-yard punt.

His teammates were nearly able to down the ball near the one-yard line. That would have been flat out remarkable. Nonetheless, kicking it from your own end zone and having the opponent start at its 20 isn’t too shabby.

Vedvik’s punt is the longest in FBS since some guy named Ray Guy boomed a 93-yarder for Southern Miss back in 1972. For the season Vedvik is averaging 44.8 yards per punt.

Marshall beat ODU 35-3 to improve to 5-1 on the season.
