Virginia quarterback Kurt Benkert threw one of the worst interceptions you’ll see all season in the first half against Boston College.
The Cavaliers, off to a surprising 5-1 start this season, were trailing BC 24-0 early in the second quarterback and had a third-down play near midfield. Benkert faced heavy pressure and rolled left toward the sideline. As a right handed quarterback, Benkert was in a bad spot. But instead of just throwing the ball away or running out of bounds, he did this:
What was he thinking? There wasn’t even a receiver who had a chance to get to that ball. However, there were two Boston College defenders right there and BC’s Will Harris was able to get a foot inbounds for an interception.
Yeah, that’s pretty bad, but not as bad as the two-handed soccer-style pick six North Carolina’s Chazz Surratt threw earlier this season.
