If Denard Robinson can’t start on Senior Day, Michigan could give him one ceremonial play

Denard Robinson might finish a great career at Michigan Stadium on the sideline, with an elbow injury that has caused him to miss 2 1/2 games.

But Michigan coach Brady Hoke sounds open to the idea of giving Robinson one final play on Senior Day this Saturday, as a show of respect to the quarterback who has set many records during his time with the Wolverines.

During an inteview with 97.1 The Ticket, Hoke said he would consider putting Robinson on the field for a ceremonial play in his last home game if he's not healthy enough to start. The quote comes from the Detroit News:

"That would be something I would think about, but to be honest with you," Hoke said. "The seniors and the guys and the people who are truly Michigan fans, I think they understand the significance he's had."

It's unfortunate for Robinson that his senior season has gone this way, from a season-opening disappointment against Alabama to the injury that has cost him some time. That hasn't taken away from his career as a whole, and his fantastic performances for a program that went through some bad years under Rich Rodriguez, and then a resurgence with Hoke.

Getting one play on Senior Day isn't ideal for Robinson, but it would be a nice gesture for a player who did a lot for Michigan football.
