AFCA announces its All-American team, and it has Tajh Boyd as its quarterback

The American Football Coaches Association All-American team, which is touted as being chosen "by the men who know the players the best — the coaches themselves," includes Clemson's Tajh Boyd as its quarterback.

Boyd has had a nice season, with 3,550 passing yards and 33 touchdowns, and another 492 rushing yards and nine scores, but ... huh?

Not Johnny Manziel. Not Collin Klein. Not even Braxton Miller. Or Marcus Mariota, or A.J. McCarron, or Geno Smith.

And these coaches "know the players the best," really?

Nothing against Boyd, a very good quarterback, but it's an odd choice, to say the least. For just one example, Smith had more yards, more touchdowns, fewer interceptions and a higher completion percentage than Boyd. And Smith is probably not going to even get a third-team spot on most All-American lists.

There were some other players left off the list that surprised us (Arizona RB Ka'Deem Casey, Utah DT Star Lotulelei, Mississippi CB Johnthan Banks and Florida S Matt Elam to name just a few), but take a look at the list and see if they got it right. Other than at quarterback, of course:
