When Navy takes the field against rival Army this weekend, it will do so with heavy hearts.

Backup quarterback Rafi Montalvo is still in the hospital after suffering life-threatening injuries in a single-car crash near his home in Miami on Thanksgiving.

To keep Montalvo in their thoughts, Navy players are wearing stickers on the back of their helmets to support their teammate.

"It's the least we could for him. He's fighting for his life right now," coach Ken Niumatalolo said. "For us to put a small decal on the back of our helmets to let him know that we're thinking about him... anything we can do to lift his spirits and his family's spirits."

The sticker features Montalvo's name and number next to a series of signal flags that spell out "Go Navy, Beat Army."

Montalvo has been in a medically induced coma since the accident and recently underwent a tracheotomy to improve his breathing. Doctors are in the process of trying to bring Montalvo out of the coma as his condition has improved.
