Calvin Klein model decides to put that career on hold, signs to play football at SMU

Many schools say they have a good-looking recruit coming onto campus. When SMU's coaches say that in regards to Myles Crosby, they're being literal about the "good looking" part.

Crosby is a pretty well known male model. On Models.com's rankings he's ranked 11th among male models, what we assume to be a four-star prospect in that world. He's pretty much the Reuben Foster of male models. We'd like to see college football recruiting experts break down that list.

Crosby has done Calvin Klein advertising campaigns, and the Dallas Morning News said he has appeared in GQ, Esquire and Vanity Fair, and the report quotes a modeling agency director saying Crosby could easily make a six-figure income modeling. But, obviously wanting to also appear on the pages of Dr. Saturday, Crosby gave all of that up to play college football.

Crosby, from Colleyville, Texas, chose SMU as his college choice according to Rivals.com.

“I’m told I’m so stupid by every single person,” Crosby said, according to the Dallas Morning News. “That every single person in my shoes should drop out of school now and go make the money.

“I have a passion for football and I want an education. This modeling crap could only last another year and then I’d have no education and never get to play football. I’d regret it for the rest of my life.”

Here's the kind of highlight video you won't see from many of today's signees:

He's giving all of that up to go through two-a-day practices in August.

Crosby is rated higher as a model than a defensive back. He's ranked as a two-star player by Rivals.com. But the 6-3, 200-pound Crosby was a very productive player as a senior, with 108 tackles and 13 pass breakups according to the Morning News.

There's not much precedent to say how a player will do after he has given up a career as a nationally-ranked male model who has done Calvin Klein jeans, underwear and fragrance campaigns. Unlikely many of the players having press conferences to sign letters of intent, playing FBS college football will be a step down in attention and exposure for Crosby.
