Ex-Miami assistant Aubrey Hill could have his case with the NCAA dismissed

Miami has finally scored a point in its ongoing investigation by the NCAA.

According to the Associated Press, the NCAA's Committee on Infractions has agreed to consider the request of three assistant coaches, who think their cases should be dismissed.

Two former Miami basketball assistants and one former football assistant, Aubrey Hill, filed a motion with the committee Thursday saying they thought they couldn’t get a fair hearing because the case had already been tainted by the NCAA’s admitted missteps.

There is no timetable for the committee to decide what to do with the three cases.

The allegations against the three coaches stem from improper contact with former Miami booster and convicted Ponzi schemer Nevin Shapiro, who is currently serving a 20-year jail sentence.

The NCAA also believes Hill was one of two assistants coaches that provided the NCAA with misleading information, breaking the NCAA’s Rule 10.1, which is based on ethical conduct.

If these cases are dismissed, it certainly opens up the possibility that the entire Miami case could be dismissed due to tainted evidence.
