A champion will be crowned tonight.
If Louisville and Florida lose, Louisiana Tech coach Skip Holtz will be the champion of the inaugural bracket challenge. If Louisville and Florida win, LSU coach Les Miles will win the bracket challenge. If Louisville wins and Florida loses, Holtz will be the winner.
In short, Miles needs a Florida win to complete his comeback and take the Dr. Saturday crown.
Miles had a chance to move to the front of Dr. Saturday’s Coaches Bracket Challenge but was, um, shocked, by Wichita State (OK, that’s the only pun, I promise).
[Watch: Does Wichita State have a chance in Final Four?]
Miles had Ohio State in play last night and was thwarted by a major upset. If Ohio State would have won, Miles would have taken the lead from Holtz and won the bracket.
Miles still has two Final Four teams remaining, more than Holtz or Oklahoma State’s Mike Gundy, but both could be knocked off tonight in tough games.
No use putting out the right and wrong picks from yesterday since Miles had the only team in play and it lost. We’re also not going to post the brackets until the Final Four begins. So, here’s a look at the points and where we stand heading into the final half of the Elite Eight:
Skip Holtz
Total points: 64
Les Miles
Total points: 62
Mike Gundy
Total Points: 45
In the Elite 8, each game is worth eight points.
Here are the picks for Sunday (Happy Easter everyone). If the coach does have a team in the mix, it’s noted with the word “OUT”
GAME | HOLTZ | MILES | GUNDY |
---|---|---|---|
No. 4 Michigan vs. No. 3 Florida | OUT | Florida | OUT |
No. 2 Duke vs. No. 1 Louisville | Louisville | Louisville | Louisville |
