Gunner Kiel, the former 5-star quarterback who recently transferred from Notre Dame, could find a new home at Cincinnati.
According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, Kiel attended the Bearcats scrimmage this past weekend and a source told the paper they thought Cincinnati had a good shot at nabbing him.
This would be an interesting move for Kiel who started his recruitment committed to Indiana and then LSU before switching to Notre Dame just before national signing day. Kiel redshirted last season, but was told by the Notre Dame coaching staff that he’d have a chance to compete for the starting role this spring.
But with sophomore Everett Golson currently manning the starting role, Kiel saw the writing on the wall.
Cincinnati is an interesting destination because it's where Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly used to coach. Kiel would definitely be a boost to a program that is establishing a new identity under new head coach Tommy Tuberville.
Tuberville is not allowed to comment on recruits and Kiel has not revealed any of the other potential destination schools.
