Michigan’s bruising forward Mitch McGary has been one of the reasons the Wolverines are in the Final Four and football coach Brady Hoke wants to see is McGarity can share some of that magic with the football team.
"I talked to McGary about being a tight end," Hoke said of McGary, who plays basketball with a football player’s mentality. "I'll take him in the red zone and just throw the ball up."
McGary is a 6-foot-10 freshman who is averaging 17.5 points and 11.5 rebounds during the NCAA tournament.
Last week, Michigan defensive coordinator Greg Mattison said he’d like to have McGary at defensive end.
Either way, it seems like the football team has been so impressed with McGary this postseason that they’ll be applying their own full-court press when the basketball season ends.
