Mississippi State is taking a strange approach to the recruiting these days as they attempt to lure players fro rival Ole Miss, which notched a top 10 class this past recruiting season – by calling their potential recruits “Baller” and telling them they have “Swag.”
A couple days after a recruit posted a picture of a Mississippi State letter that simply said “You’re a Baller” on Mississippi State letterhead, 2014 cornerback recruit Marlon Humphrey posted a picture of his recruiting letter from the Bulldogs.
Guess ill be going to Mississippi State soon....SWAG twitter.com/marlon_humphre…

Yes, yes that is a hand-drawn can of “Swag” and yes, the recruiter claims he has a truckload of it in “Stark Vegas.”
This recruiting letter is so great on so many levels. I mean, you have to admire the artistry and of course the way the recruiter is connecting with the recruit by using cool and hip slang. Why wouldn’t a recruit want to go to Mississippi State?
I guess these are the depths one has to go when your rivals school makes a huge recruiting splash by sending letters to every major player in the country.
To Mississippi State’s credit, Humphrey, who has offers from Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee, does note that he’ll have to visit the campus soon.
We can only hope there is a truckload of swag waiting for him when he arrives.
