It’s fair to say Denard Robinson was embarrassed — as was the entirety of the Michigan fan base — after one-hopping his attempt at a ceremonial first pitch prior to the Detroit Tigers’ game last Tuesday.
After all, Robinson started four seasons at quarterback for the Wolverines. The least he could do was get the ball from the pitcher’s mound to the plate.
So a week later, in an effort for redemption, Robinson heated up his pitching arm and threw a strike prior to the Michigan-Notre Dame baseball game Tuesday afternoon. Of course, Ray Fisher Stadium is a far cry from Comerica Park and the crowd wasn’t nearly as large, but the ceremony offered at least a sliver of redemption.

Unfortunately, throwing a strike with Michigan baseball will do little to get Robinson off the Major League’s illustrious list of failed first pitch attempts, which includes Cincinnati mayor Mark Mallory and Mariah Carey.
It’s a good thing he’s training to be a receiver in the NFL.
