Notre Dame hopes its Oct. 5 game at Cowboys Stadium is just a preview of things to come.
The Associated Press said the Irish will play its home game against Arizona State this season at Cowboys Stadium, which was announced this week as the site of the first College Football Playoff title game in January of 2015.
Notre Dame made the BCS Championship Game last season, so it can't feel like a more important return trip to Cowboys Stadium after its game against the Sun Devils is out of the question.
This is a home game for Notre Dame as part of its "Shamrock Series," in which it has home games in stadiums around the country. Last year the Irish played a game at Soldier Field in Chicago.
Given the Irish's national appeal and a pretty good matchup for that game, moving the game to the massive Cowboys Stadium might not be that bad of an idea.
