Kentucky’s Ashely Lowery released from the hospital less than a week after horrific car crash

It took less than a week for Kentucky safety Ashely Lowery to defy the odds.

Lowery was involved in a horrific car accident May 4 where he was thrown 100 feet from his vehicle that flipped multiple times before landing in a crumpled heap.

Lowery was not wearing a seatbelt, which, in a rare twist of events, probably saved his life and enabled him to be sent home last Thursday.

Family spokesman Don Stutsman told the Associated Press on Friday that Lowery had been released from Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Lowery suffered “bumps and bruises” according to Stutsman, but nothing life-threatening.

Lowery, who returned to his home in Cleveland, Ga., could be back on Kentucky's campus as early as next month to resume his workouts with the football team.

What an amazing story for the junior safety.
