Brandon Mitchell lands at N.C. State, gives Wolfpack another quarterback option

N.C. State has a pretty big hole at quarterback with Mike Glennon off to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but now has another candidate to replace him.

Brandon Mitchell, who left Arkansas after it was apparent he had been beaten out by Brandon Allen for the starting quarterback job, is transferring to N.C. State, according to ESPN. He's on track to graduate and can play in the fall.

That should help the Wolfpack, although it's hard to tell what Mitchell will really bring to the team.

Mitchell hasn't played much. He's just 25-of-43 for 332 yards in his career. He played behind Tyler Wilson (no shame there) and moved to receiver last year to help the team, which makes it even harder to tell how he'll do at quarterback this fall. Although, Ryan Tannehill moved from receiver to full-time quarterback at Texas A&M and did just fine.

Mitchell will compete with Pete Thomas, who has been highly touted for a while but wasn't impressive at Colorado State before transferring, and sophomore Manny Stocker. While it remains to be seen if Mitchell can come right in and help at quarterback, it won't hurt the Wolfpack to have another option.
