Two-week-old Naomi Wozniak has Oregon fans for parents, but considering where she was born, her first words might have to be “Go Blue.”

Dominika Wozniak (a professional tennis player and coach at the University of Michigan Varsity Tennis Center) and her husband Dave (a professor at Eastern Michigan) met while attending the University of Oregon and moved to Ann Arbor in 2010. They were at their home on July 20 when Dominika’s water broke, so they loaded up the car and started toward the hospital. However, traffic and construction were impeding their progress, and with Naomi clearly in a hurry, the couple knew they weren’t going to reach their destination in time.

Dave pulled in the Champions North parking lot in the shadows of the Big House and his wife began giving birth in the back seat. As the dad-to-be got emergency dispatchers on the phone, he could already see his daughter’s head. A few moments later, they were holding their new daughter.

“She started crying right away,” Dominika told AnnArbor.com “I wrapped her in a towel and I wiped her mouth and her nose … We looked at each other and I said, ‘I think she’s OK!’”

“We both looked at each other (and let out) a huge sigh of relief,” Dave said in the same interview. “I had no clue what I was doing. People say I did a good job, and I just caught it. Just the speed of everything was crazy.”

Naomi weighed in at 7.5 pounds and is doing great.
