Earlier this summer we told you about the chance for new international bowl game locales, including potential match ups in Dubai, Dublin and the Bahamas. While the Middle East and Emerald Isle proved too unfeasible, Conference USA is going to be playing in the Bahamas, starting in 2014:
C-USA will play in new bowl games in Bahamas & Boca Raton, sources told @ESPN. That's at least 38 bowls in 2014
— Brett McMurphy (@McMurphyESPN) August 20, 2013
As you can see in Brett McMurphy's tweet, there will also be a game in Boca Raton. This comes on the heels of yesterday's news that teams from the MAC and Sun Belt would be meeting in Montgomery, Ala. for the Camellia Bowl. Whatever the Bahama Bowl ends up officially being called, you can be sure that sportswriters across the nation are going to be lobbying that they absolutely have to be in attendance to capture the majesty of two 7-5 teams facing off.
Can we get to 40 bowl games for the 2014 season? And are there going to be enough bowl eligible teams to fill those spots? Just kidding: The NCAA will continue to lower standards so every spot gets filled. 5-7 will be good enough if your fans will travel.
