Maybe the most predictable part of the first college football Saturday of the 2013 season was the Marching Owl Band finding a way to make a satirical commentary on Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel.
The MOB didn't disappoint showing up to Kyle Field for the season opener in white T-shirts featuring Manziel's autograph printed on the front. The MOB has poked fun at others over the years building a reputation for it.
Manziel, the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner, was suspended for the first half of the game by the NCAA for a violating a rule that prohibits student-athletes from allowing their names or likeness to be used commercially. Manziel was investigated for allegedly receiving payment to sign memorabilia in the offseason, but the NCAA could not prove Manziel received any money.
At times, during the season opener, Rice players mocked Manziel by pretending they were signing autographs. Manziel responded after his team scored touchdowns with hand gestures as if he was handling money.
