Welcome back to college football’s elite, Clemson.
The Tigers are No. 4 in this week’s AP poll, up four spots from their preseason ranking of No. 8. It's their highest ranking since ascending to No. 3 on Sept. 12, 1988. They even received one first-place vote.
Clemson definitely looked the part of a one of college football’s contenders with a thrilling 38-35 win over Georgia in the highest profile game of the weekend.
The Tigers currently sit behind No. 1 Alabama, No. 2 Oregon and No. 3 Ohio State. The Ducks 66-3 drubbing of Nichols State was enough for them to leapfrog Ohio State, which bested Buffalo 40-20.

Stanford, South Carolina, Texas A&M, Louisville, LSU and Florida State round out the rest of the top 10 respectively.
Georgia saw the largest drop from No. 5 to No. 11 and TCU dropped four spots to No. 24. Boise State also dropped out of the poll after a stunning 32-point loss to Washington, which appears in the rankings at No. 20. Baylor also makes an appearance at No. 23.
So, do you think the voters got it right this week or is it still too early to tell? With the exception of a handful of schools, there weren’t a lot of hotly contested games to really challenge the upper echelon. There’s no doubt Clemson made a strong statement with its big win, but we're reserving judgment on the other teams until some of the tougher tests in the coming weeks.
