Ohio State loses quarterback Braxton Miller to sprained MCL against San Diego State

It has been a tough day for quarterbacks playing for schools in Ohio.

Not long after Cincinnati quarterback Munchie Legaux suffered a gruesome leg injury in the fourth quarter of a loss to Illinois, word came that Ohio State quarterback and Heisman Trophy candidate Braxton Miller was also being carted off the field 3 minutes into the Buckeyes' home game against San Diego State.

Miller suffered a sprained MCL in his knee and won't play again today. It's too early to know how much time he might miss and what effect the injury could have on his Heisman candidacy and the second-ranked Buckeyes' pursuit of a national title.

Miller had completed both of his passes for 30 yards and had rushed once for five yards at the time of his injury. Senior Kenny Guiton came on to replace Miller and quickly threw his first touchdown pass of the season and only the third of his career to Philly Brown for 27 yards.

Ohio State has a tough slate of games coming up in three of the next four weeks with a road trip to Cal next week, followed by games at home against Florida A&M and Wisconsin and then a road trip to Northwestern. The Buckeyes won't have a bye week until mid-October.
