Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops said Monday that Blake Bell would start at quarterback for the Sooners against Tulsa on Saturday.

Redshirt freshman Trevor Knight suffered a bruised knee against West Virginia and is expected to miss 1-2 weeks. Knight left the West Virginia game in the second half after throwing interceptions on consecutive drives and Bell replaced him. Though Stoops also said that Bell's entry into the game wasn't entirely medical related.

Knight beat out Bell, considered by many to be the favorite to replace the departed Landry Jones, in fall practice. In the Sooners' 16-7 win over the Mountaineers, the passing game was anemic, as Knight was just 10-20 for 119 yards, a touchdown and those two interceptions.

The 6-6 252 pound Bell, a junior, was primarily a red zone quarterback for Oklahoma in his first two seasons and scored 24 touchdowns. While they weren't BYU-esque on the ground, the Sooners did tally 316 yards rushing against West Virginia.
