Nebraska coach Bo Pelini apologized for a 2011 profanity-laced tirade that was leaked to Deadspin on Monday.

In the audio, Pelini dropped a bunch of f-bombs while talking about fans who left the stadium during a game against Ohio State. The Huskers were trailing by three touchdowns before rallying for a 34-27 win.

"Our crowd. What a bunch of f---ing fair-weather f------—they can all kiss my ass out the f---ing door,” Pelini said in the audio that was recorded before Pelini was supposed to have a postgame interview with Greg Sharpe of the Husker Sports Network. “'Cause the day is f---ing coming now. We'll see what they can do when I'm f---ing gone. I'm so f---ing pissed off."

Pelini said he didn’t know he was being recorded and said he was caught up in the moment after a ‘series of emotional events.’

"I want to sincerely apologize for my comments from two years ago which became public today," Pelini said in a statement released by the school Monday night. "I take full responsibility for these comments. They were spoken in a private room following the Ohio State game. I was venting following a series of emotional events, which led to this moment. That being said, these comments are in no way indicative of my true feelings. I love it here in Nebraska and feel fortunate to be associated with such a great University and fan base. I again apologize to anyone whom I have offended."

Nebraska chancellor Harvey Perlman said he was disappointed about the comments, but declined to address any rumors about Pelini’s job status.

Athletic director Shawn Eichorst said he talked to Pelini about the rant.

"I am disheartened and disappointed by the 2011 comments published today attributed to Coach Pelini about our dedicated and passionate fans and supporters," Eichorst said in a statement. "I have spoken with Chancellor Perlman and I have addressed the situation with Bo and expressed our deep concern."

Pelini has already had a rough week. His team is coming off a 41-21 loss to UCLA – a game which the Huskers led at half – and had some choice words to former Nebraska star quarterback Tommie Frazier, who called for Pelini’s job. In Pelini’s six seasons with the Huskers, he is 51-21 with no conference titles.
