Beating Nebraska and being undefeated will give you some confidence. And when you're confident, it's always more fun to take a dig at a rival, especially if that rival's confidence is wobbling.
That's what UCLA WR Shaq Evans did during a radio interview yesterday. While on EPN Radio 710, he said it was "awesome" to see the Trojans struggling and made a prediction about what will happen when UCLA visits USC on November 30. (Click here to listen to the interview)
"Beating them last year and knowing that we're going to beat them again this year ... two years ago when they beat us 50-0 we ow them a little bit when we come to the Coliseum, Evans said. "There, they embarrassed us, this year we're going to try to embarrass them."
"It's so much fun to see them struggling like we used to struggle, and now they're struggling so it's awesome to see that."
Evans, a senior, grew up in Inglewood California, so he's been familiar with the rivalry his whole life. And when he was asked who was the best receiver in Los Angeles between he and Marqise Lee, Evans chose himself.
We're good with both his choice and the trash talk. Wide receivers have to be brash, and Evans has nine catches for 178 yards and two TDs through two games. Not shabby. And adding some spice to a rivalry that did have that monstrous blowout two years ago is never a bad thing.
