October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and many college football teams have done their part to support the fight against the disease in recent years by adding pink to uniforms for a home game during the month.
We'll see a lot of that again next month and a little of it this weekend. Texas will don gear with pink accents this week for its home game against Kansas State because it doesn't have a home game during October this season.

The Longhorns have three open dates this season (Sept. 28, Oct. 19 and Nov. 23) and only play a total of three games in October. They go on the road to face Iowa State and TCU and sandwiched between those games is the annual Red River Rivalry game with Oklahoma played on a neutral field at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.
Hey, there is plenty going wrong with coach Mack Brown's program right now on the field, but give the Longhorns some credit for making sure to be a part of this effort. It would have been easy not to.
