The right ankle injury that quarterback Jeff Driskel suffered in the first quarter of Florida's game against Tennessee is serious enough to sideline him for the rest of the season.
After Florida's 31-17 win, coach Will Muschamp said that Driskel will be out the rest of the season. It's a crushing blow to an offense that struggled to move the ball with Driskel under center, and even more so after he left the game. Driskel was injured when he threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown. As he threw the ball, he was twisted around and his right ankle torqued.

Tyler Murphy replaced Driskel and improved as the game went on, but Florida's 31 points came with a significant assist from six Tennessee turnovers. As much as Florida's offense as looked ragged, their defense has looked stout. And it's going to continue that excellent performance if Florida wants to retain any hope of competing with Georgia and South Carolina in the SEC East.
Murphy finished the game 8-14 for 134 yards and a touchdown through the air and also ran 10 times for 84 yards and a touchdown. Before his injury, Driskel was 3-6 for 33 yards and that interception.
Last season, Driskel threw for 1648 yards and 12 touchdowns and ran for 408 yards.
