Cincinnati offensive lineman Ben Flick was killed in a car accident Saturday night while driving home from the Bearcats' 14-0 win against Miami-Ohio.

Flick, a 19-year-old true freshman, was one of four people in the car that lost control and slid off the road ejecting two of the passengers. Freshman receivers Mark Barr and Javon Harrison also were in the car. Barr is listed in critical condition along with the unnamed driver. Harrison is in stable condition. All three were air-lifted to University of Cincinnati Medical Center via helicopter.

According to a release from the University of Cincinnati, the accident occurred at 10:30 p.m. Because the players were true freshmen and redshirting, they traveled to the game on their own. A story from the CBS affiliate in Cincinnati said alcohol may have played a role in the crash.

“I can’t put into words how tragic this is,” coach Tommy Tuberville said in a statement. “As a father and a coach, it’s something you hope you never have to go through. Ben was so proud to be a part of this team and University. He worked hard and had shown a great deal of improvement since the summer. His future was bright. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Flick family on their loss. We also hope and pray for Mark and Javon to recover from their injuries.”
